#TBT - STUDENTS' WELCOME EVENT
by Giovana Martinez
Hi, everyone!! In today's editorial we are going to talk about a #tbt from the beginning of 2021. The students’ welcome event of our course!
It happened online due to the covid-19 pandemic, but that is not a reason to prevent if from being an incredible and enriching event!
First of all, there was a speech of our course coordinator, Professor Francini, who gave us important directions for the school year. We also introduced ourselves to the teachers, who also spoke a little about themselves, so that we could get to know them better, something which we didn't have time to do in person! And we also remembered some moments from the last year, like the Spring Festival.
The second year students Alex and Júlia, performed the song “Summertime sadness”, by singer Lana del Rey, in the cultural presentation. They always rock!
According to Júlia: “Well, last year I sang for a lot of people I hadn't seen in my life, and it was in person... So, what can you compare with that? hahahha. This year I was invited by Professors Raquel and Francini to record a video with my colleague Alex, singing the song we prefer. We chose “Summertime Sadness” by Lana del Rey, and we really liked the result. It will always be an honor to sing for this course I love so much!"
Finally, there was a lecture by Professor Sérgio Dantas, concerning the use of Moodle, an online platform widely used in this pandemic period.
Taking into consideration all the activities, Professor Juliane said: “In my opinion, I think that when we have this type of event, when we welcome students for another school year, it is very important, because students get to to know about the new projects of the college or the new positions of professors within the university. I believe that events like this must take place every year, since they are essential for welcoming and communication. We also have students who are returning; they stopped for a while, and are coming back, so it is good to see that they are back, and that they feel welcomed by the course. This year the event had its first online edition, we hope that next year we will be in person with guests and celebrations!”.
