Music Fest is an event from the Letras Inglês course aimed at students who are interested in music and want to expose their talents and works. The idea emerged from the introductory English classes in which the textual genre “song” is being studied by the 1st year graduates.

The event will take place at the IGTV digital platform on the course's Instagram (@ingles.letras) from August 3rd to 8th, and is being organized by the professors Raquel Almeida and Fernando Benites, and also by an organizing committee composed by the students from the 1st year Alex, Julia, José Eduardo and Jean.

Professor Fernando, one of the organizers of the event, said that: “Given the current configuration that we have been living in, and taking into account that first years students have been introduced to university in a different reality, this event was designed to establish a relationship among themselves, the groups and between them and the university. Besides, working with music, which is a subject covered during the first year, tends to strengthen relations.”

There are 4 categories in this event, namely: song performance, song composition, song parody, and song video clip. The participants will be evaluated by a commission and the winners in each category will be awarded with some prizes given by the event sponsors, such as discounts on English and music courses and  at a musical instruments store. Registration will take place from the 1st to the 22nd of July and participants must follow the rules of the regulation.

The first-year student of the Letras Inglês course, Julia Salviatto, who is part of the organizing committee, has a message inviting everyone to join the event: “Hey guys, how are you?  My name is Julia Salviatto, I am a 1st year student and I am here to invite you to participate in our first MusicFest!  It will be a very cool event, with the goal of discovering new talents and giving the opportunity for you, who love music, to show your skills!  Totally online, with the option to participate or not in a competition (the prizes are incredible, so participate). I hope to see each one of you!  Bye Bye!”

If you want to know a little bit more about the event, or if you’d like to participate, you can contact the organizing committee via the email: musicfestunespar@gmail.com.
