Paraná speaks English is a program that aims to boost UNESPAR and also promote internationalization actions through teaching, breaking barriers when empowering students, teachers and college agents in a foreign language. This project is an initiative of state higher education institutions together with the Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Higher Education (SETI). Its courses are classified into four categories, from the most basic English to the most advanced English. The best thing is that Paraná speaks English has no monthly costs, it is just paid the material used and the classes are taught at the University itself. Here on our campus of Apucarana, this project arrived this year and our teacher is Alexandre Miano da Costa. Here is a testimony we collected from teacher Alexandre:

PFI is an initiative of State Higher Education Institutions in partnership with the State Secretariat for Science, Technology and Higher Education (SETI) and aims to encourage universities to promote internationalization actions in a meaningful way through teaching, research and the extent to which they overcome geographical barriers by training students, teachers and university staff in English.

My latest projects

“I'm teacher Alexandre, a scholarship teacher from the Paraná Fala Inglês Inglês program at the Unespar Apucarana Campus. I started my activities in the program in October 2019. I am graduated in Letras-Inglês by the Unespar campus of Apucarana, and, at the moment, I am taking a postgraduate course in Methodology for Teaching English Language. It is a great honor for me to be able to return to my soul-master now as a teacher. Our profession is, like the others, a great challenge in which we need to overcome the most diverse obstacles all the time, but we are always trying to overcome them and reinvent ourselves as professionals in order to achieve our goals”.

The courses offered in this first semester of 2020 are: General English Course Basic and Pre-intermediate levels; English course for specific purposes and Academic English Course. There is no monthly fee for those interested in participating in the courses. Only didactic material, available electronically, should be purchased in the approximate amount of R$75.00 for use on each semester.

The courses, until then, were being carried out in person at the Language Laboratories of Paraná Speaks English on Unespar campuses in Campo Mourão and Paranaguá with semester modules. But due to the current pandemic of COVID-19, for everyone's safety and obeying the guidelines of government agencies, it was decided for the distant modality in the expectation that everyone can protect themselves but still have the opportunity to enjoy what PFI has to offer guaranteeing everyone a rewarding learning experience in English. If you want to participate, visit www.unespar.edu.br/paranafalaingles and follow the dates of the selection processes, via Edicts, launched at the beginning of each school semester.
