My latest projects

In today's edition we will remind you of an extension project for our course, the English Day. The purpose of this event was to generate an immersion in the English language and the knowledge about American culture.

The first edition took place in October 2018, and was organized by the first ETAs Alexa and Hanna. The event took place in the form of games such as maze, tic-tac-toe and hangman, among others. The undergraduates were the monitors during the games. This edition had the participation of Colégio Rui Barbosa, from Jandaia do Sul and the students of EDHUCCA, from Apucarana.

The second edition took place in May 2019, was organized by ETAs Katie and Megan and was in the form of games such as twister, puzzle of the USA map, drawings, and chair dance, among others. This time, the students from Colégio São Domingos, from Faxinal, students from EDHUCCA and students from the school Cobra, both from Apucarana, participated of the event. They were divided into teams and led by academics who worked as monitors.

The third edition was in October, 2019, and was also organized by ETAs Katie and Megan, and this time, Polivalente and EDHUCCA brought their students. This edition was different, since it worked in a treasure hunt format, with tips and evidence such as assembling a human pyramid, finding postcards from the USA scattered on campus, drawings, among others.

At the end of the three editions, students could buy some gifts at a garage sale with the fake dollars they earned during the tasks, and at the end of each event there was also a picnic, in which  the students could talk about the courses offered by Unespar.

Next, we will have a testimonial from student Thayla Watanabe, a Physical Education student at the State University of Londrina – UEL.  She took part in the second edition of English Day as a third year high school student at Colégio São Domingos of Faxinal. Thayla said: “For me the English Day was a somewhat unique experience. I have always had a lot of contact with the English language but spending a day experiencing it in practice was challenging! The games, the dialogues with the ETAs and the activities proposed learning in a playful and fun way made me want to learn even more.”

English day is a way to provide contact with the English language and our campus for students in the schools of Apucarana and region, an incredible initiative!
