Whenever we are not busy in our most-of-the-time-crazy routines, we often look for a source of entertainment just to relax a little bit. There are many possibilities for those moments, including reading our Newsletter website. Television, another example, has been out there for many years, getting the family members together in front of it in order to watch the nine-o’clock soap opera. Nowadays, the streaming services have been taking some of this power TV used to own. Both have, of course, their own specificities and good and bad aspects. However, a positive aspect of those streaming is the fact that the watcher has the right of choice in terms of what and when the program will be shown. Another advantage we, foreign language students, could benefit from is the language option. It is possible to select in what language you want to listen to the show and also, optionally, turn on the subtitles. So, from the comfort of your house, you will broaden your possibilities of listening to English being spoken. There are several tips for practicing the language while having fun with shows, but let’s keep it for another day.

Besides being a very funny way to learn and practice your skills in English, The Office is a show in which we are introduced to many unusual and curious situations lived in a paper company office. This TV show has nine seasons, which are critically acclaimed, and is a great option for sitcom lovers.

 

Friends (1994)

 

This one is a classic. Friends have more than 200 episodes for watching and practicing your abilities. Here, six adults living in Manhattan are involved in too many clutter situations, which involves love, friendship, their jobs and similar troublesome things.

 

The Haunting of Hill House (2018)

 

The theme of this one is the total opposite of the other ones. Full of drama and horror, The Haunting of Hill House tells the story of a family who were haunted in the past, and how these ghosts are still in their lives. Among some goosebumps, you can easily exercise your English skills.
